- Sharp’s owner, Hon Hai Precision of Taiwan (aka Foxconn), had its founder, Terry Gou in interview state:
o “If we can make iPhones, why can’t we make EVs? It is an iPhone with four wheels.”
- Young Liu, current chairman, announced plans to build factories in the U.S. and Thailand that will assemble electric vehicles, and looking for locations in Europe
- Already supplies electronics to electric car makers, such as Tesla and BMW
- Plans to supply cars to Fisker of New York, Byton of Chica, Yulon Motor of Taiwan and possibly Apple

- 8K Ecosystems division (which includes MFPs, PPS and printer) had net sales increase of 36.8% to 137.6 billion yen ($1.3 billion)
o Operating profit up to 4.1 billion yen ($38 million)

Just When I Thought All Was Coming Up Roses

Please excuse me if some of the words are not formed corrective.

It was Wednesday early in the day,  and Tuesday saw me secure an existing client for 22K.  That was a great way to start the month and by 11AM an existing client added another 10k for a production RT device and a high end stacker.  By mid day Wednesday every thing was clicking, it was another hour later when an existing client client added a 7k. Within another 25 minutes I received another 5k from a client about PM for an A4 device.

By 4 PM on Wednesday I was at 43k for the first two selling days of the month.   July saw me add $140k in orders and June finished at 11k.

It was going to be a great month because there were other ducks on the pond for the month. At 6pm all went to ****. My wife knew there was something amiss. Kathy was concerned because I was not responding to her questions. Me, I had no clue and was not aware I was having a stroke. Make a long story short and I was off to the hospital confirming the stroke. It’s now Friday and we find out I have a clot in my heart, the only remedy is to have Herparin dissolve the clot.

So we never know what happens from day to day.  There were no warnings and I was enjoying life.

I’ll be taking some days off over the next few weeks and hope to be back in the near future.

Lanier ld430/aficio mp c3000 print garbled characters

have had 3 different customers where they do significant amount of printing. The system will start printing garbled characters in the middle of a print job (the pages are then completely unreadable. Once started, the only fix is power cycle the system and it will work fine for hours to days between symptoms.

We ordered one and had our tech's look at it before we wanted to sell it. Our tech's thought it was poorly designed, and the print quality is poor. When thee GelPrinter Rep from Ricoh was in, he even said wait for Generation 2... So we have one if you want it?

Our techs were mixed on feedback. Some liked the printer and some didn't. The advantages they all seemed to agree on were: 1. The speed is awesome compared to other low end inkjets without having to be in draft mode to get great speed. 2. The ink dried VERY quickly when compared to other inkjets we tried. In fact, one of the more skeptical techs tried to smudge the ink right off the printer and could not. The biggest disadvantage was the print quality, but for a low end ink printer, the speed

I have had this happen before with a PC that had McAfee Anti Virus loaded on it. You have to update McAfee to fix the issue. It is a McAfee created problem and they acknowledge it. Go to McAfee and search for (Case No: 758588, Hotfix HF214636). Also,check out this FAQ from Ricoh Corp website I attached. It will explain also.

One at a time. A destination can have email, fax and folder programmed. I don’t know about the grouping. For lanfaxing you would have export from address book and import into laxfax address book. Lanfax cannot go into the MFP’s address book for the information.

In the address book an individual (company) can have both a fax destination and an email address. Can a group contain both email and fax destinations? If an individual has both can you select which to include in the group? Also, is there anyway that the names, email and fax destinations entered into the address book can also be used for the address book in LAN-Fax?

PCL Print Error

This error printed from a Savin C230 after the customer printed a picture they downloaded from the web. What is an illegal media source? The customer thought Big Brother was watching them, because this error came after each document they printed from Word, Excel, the web, everything. I turned the machine off and back on, and when we printed again from the same sources, the errors did not come back. Any suggestions?

printing per month? We've always seen problems with envelopes and the Ricoh/Savin hardware (as well as many laser printers). For the time and frustration, when our customers are looking for something to run a bunch of envelopes on I'd recommend a $50 inkjet anyday over an MFP. It's just the right tool for the job. No pressure, no fusing, minimal page coverage. But, you sacrifice image quality and the waterproof of laser.

Scan to email Savin SPC232DN

I always test our MFP's scan to email capabilities with our Exchange Server and our ISP's SMTP server. For some reason, I cannot get this product to scan using the ISP's server. I can get all of the other Savin products in our showroom to scan to email with the ISP's mail server, but not this one. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!

They aren't in the price book, so I assume they are not available. Even on the products for which the keyboards are available, they are only compatible with a few solutions, such as eCopy and GlobalScan. Sharp has a big leg up here since there keyboards are compatible with out-of-the-box scanning as well as OSA apps. I don't know why Ricoh doesn't do the same.


I know we have keyboards & mounting kits available for most of our color products but I have not been able to find them for A4 Savin C230 (Ricoh Aficio MP C400). Does anyone know if there are keyboards available for these? Thanks

Illegal media source simply means that the requested paper tray was not present on the device. Most likely the printer lost communication with a paper tray and rebooting the printer restored it. PCL5 will give a lot fewer errors (at the tradeoff of lesser image quality, some users won't notice or care).

I'm in the same boat OldGlory. I have a bank coming to end of lease in September and the new A4 would be perfect. The customer is looking to downsize their fleet of 13 three year old Lanier mid volume A3 machines. Problem is I have to quote based on what I have now....not on what I might have in October. Could cost me the deal as my competition is in with 42ppm Kyocera A4 tabletops. I am also a Kyocera dealer and would rather not wind up being the lowest bidder to sell Kyocera tabletops

Once it gets to the printer, you are correct. For some reason, the Mac processes the PDF faster that the Power Point. The result was the same on a Lexmark and HP, so the customer realized it wasn't a hardware issue but a file size issue.

I am not sure I quite understand the question either. I can tell you of all the factors, understanding the projected print volume becomes the most important. It is hard to calculate the rest without it.

If they have a lot of pictures in their Power Point presentation they may want to check into the resolution/size. I've run into the same thing with Publisher. Schools wanting to print yearbooks or playbills where every picture is greater than 2 MB.

For August 2011 were did you rank with respect to your monthly quota.
