Ricoh Changes - Direct operations

While I haven't seen anything other than what Andy Slawetsky has posted today about the changes with RBS it seems Ricoh finally will get smart and really put the focus on the dealers. The way I read everything was that Ricoh will transition SMB accounts to dealers and focus on largebusiness accounts for the directs. It took them long enough, in my opinion, as many dealers I know have sold out to global or stopped selling the Ricoh line. I am very eager to see if this goes through across the

Ricoh has a webinar scheduled for tomorrow, "National Kick-Off". I 'm a Savin dealer and really have a hard time staying as a sole source dealer after some of the stuff I've seen over the last couple of years. We're starting to feel like Beta testers out here. I'm not sure if I should be happy or insulted if they try to sell me some of the school districts and counties they've taken from me. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

Interesting webinar. It makes complete sense for Ricoh to do this, after all they have been selling hardware and service at dealer cost or below and just shipping supplies to anyone who asks. They finally figured out that they can't actually make any money doing that. Ihad a direct proposal that said "we don't charge for excessive toner usage (we do) we don't even care how much toner you use". Cold calling used to be one of the best -- and only -- prospecting strategies salespeople could use. But in the past 40 years, a variety of more effective alternatives have emerged. A good prospecting strategy is: Consistent: It reliably generates new leads. High-return: It generates a high number of potential customers for the amount of energy and resources required. Targeted: It connects you with the right prospects, not just any prospects. Why doesn't cold calling fit this criteria? read the
