It's been a rather slow March for me.  Everything that was working moved and it's not like a lost anything.  Now I need to double my efforts to stay on track.  I did uncovered a decent content opportunity and that was for $600K.  Yes, that's a huge number and we are progressing, will keep all informed on this one!

Personal Desktop Scanners "Wave of the Future"?

Art Post (Guest) ·
scanning from the MFP's, he stated that scanning at an MFP wastes time and productivity and for $500 each, he figured he was saving almost 20 hours a month of productivity! He also stated that all documents are scanned locally and then distributed or archived. I thought this was pretty neat idea and tucked it away in the ole memory banks. Just a few weeks ago doing another print analysis I again encountered 15 of the these scanners at another location, hmmmmmmm is this coincidence or a new fad

Re: Fax forwarding, etc. with efi versions of color boxes?

From what I've seen so far you CAN scan SMB, FTP, and Email. Also it has LDAP Support. It CAN also do Walk up faxing, and internet faxing. You Can print to the Document Server. You CAN'T lan-fax. As far as fax forwarding I don't know. A few other glitches we have found is the EFI version of Web image monitor has issues with IE7. And Print jobs won't wake the machine up like they do on the Ricoh Controllers. The Fiery will take the job but it won't print it until you walk over and wake the

Remember, Canon counts the RFG as seperate entities and placements. In their eyes, Ricoh, Savin, and Lanier are all seperate placements.

Art, curious if these were being supplied by the same vendor? Could it be the some stellar salesperson was very busy and vewry successful. The 8025e/DSm725e etc. scans at 52 per minute and costs nothing versus $500 per desk (15x$500=$7500. Now if he liked the productivity of that solutions why not consider a desktop MFP that can Scan, and Print, and Copy, and Fax, and perhaps Color for the same price.

before we leave because we don't see the need. I don't use the words master or ink until well into the sales process...usually not until they are infront of a demo and have seen color coming out at high-speed. I also don't answer questions about duplexing or collating until this time. If they ask about duplexing before I'm ready to address it, I say it will do unlimited duplexing and then wait for a more appropriate time to come back to it and explain how it is done. Same thing with collating

The text of your email you say Ricoh where you intended to say Global. "I've added my comment to the Xerox purchase of Ricoh on my blog." Wouldn't that be scary.

Well, the unit arrived and took our technical team about 20 minutes to set it up...sight unseen. We have the fully loaded unit, 4 paper trays, fax, finisher with staple. It took a bit more time to put it on the network and we have been giving it the testing from them on. Early feel is it is a pretty good unit. Wouldn't want to put the document feeder into a site doing tons of scanning...but it is certainly fine for normal document copying and faxing. Only issue we have as yet is getting the SMB

This illustrates the problem...64 pages and not a thing about fax or email. No one from Ricoh knows anything about how EFI deals with fax and email and no one from EFI knows anything about how Ricoh deals with it. What I would like is for someone from somewhere to tell me in what ways a current Ricoh MFP user will have to adapt or change if they get a Ricoh MFP with the Fiery. With every new model there is a "What's New, What's Different" I would like to see that comparing the Ricoh Controller

press roller to image the other side, and exits the unit as normal. The unit then adjusts all the timing to print at full speed, printing both sides on two different pieces of paper - one going down into the duplex and the one coming up and out. The end result is an auto-duplexing 8 1/2 x 11 at full rated speed, or an effective 240ipm. It's quite impressive to see, but is obviously flawed by it's ability to only duplex 8 1/2 x 11. The surface of the new impression roller feels almost like

I like your thinking. It may not be what we would prefer to sell, but if it meets client needs and we can make a buck selling them, then it certainly seems to make sense. I expect to see one in our back office in the next few days...we'll give everyone a sense of how they actually work and what the technical team says about them once we have it tried out.

Re: SMB and Windows Vista

In case anyone ran into this, I have the answer. Savin tech help line had me install a firmware upgrade (for the NIB) on the C2525. Once I did that, SMB worked fine. There are some extra steps in setting up the folder due to the enhanced security settings of Vista. If anyone needs help, let me know, I made a cheat sheet for it that I can pass along.

To clarify.. The Scanning is not the regular Ricoh scanning set up.. you have to use the EFI Scanning. So set up and use are different then we are use to..
