The Week in Copiers Fifteen Years Ago

The First Week in December

The 60's, 70's and 80's was an exceptional time in our industry.  Copier dealerships started in homes, garages and in most cases funded with very little cash and maybe some credit cards.  Those entrepreneurs put everything aside because they had no fear of risk and had to vision to see the best of times.

NEW MESSAGE BOARDS

Art Post (Guest) ·
I am considering expansion of the Print 4 Pay Hotel to cover Toshiba, Kyocera, Canon and KonicaMinolta. In order to do this I will need at least two moderators per board. Items that need to be done on a daily basis, update the greetings page with date and drive the boards with press releases and general items that relate to the specific manufacturer, also approve membership for the board and drive membership either by word of mouth, emails or posting on other message boards. Re: Oracle references?

that is kind of the problem. A non-me-customer, but Ikon Ricoh customer that I sold in a previous life switched to Oracle recently and have had nothing but problems trying to print from Oracle to the Ricohs (two 1045's) to the point that they have decided that Oracle can't print easily to a Ricoh. Because local IKON is not a strong Ricoh (Canon for 25 years, Ricoh for 2) and the customer is not being supported well, I need somebody that can speak from experience that it's not the Ricohs.

DWF & DXF Printing

Wallin Team ·
Kip marketing info says that DWF printing is standard these are Autocad type files but cannot be opened in Autocad?). Is this true and can they do batch DWF printing? I copied both a DWF & DXF file into the CFG folder of the 240W and neither one would print. My assumption is that we cannot print these files unless the DXF is opened and printed through Autocad and that the DWF files need to be opened in some sort of viewer and then printed using our windows driver? With the new 480W and the DWG

Printing Multiple Collated Sets of Autocad Drawings

Wallin Team ·
I have been told that Autocad 2005 provides the ability to batch print multiple collated sets directly out of Auotcad. If this is true, is there any benefit to the customer that we can print multiple collated sets using the native DWG file? Is there any difference in speed or processing time?

files that have multiple drawings? Admittedly, I have only tried this at one customer's site, and they have some... issues (like not really understanding AutoCAD), but at that site, simply downloading the DWGs without previewing them results in unusable prints. If I open the same document in AutoCAD and simply hit "print" without setting the papersize/scale/pen settings/etc. then I get the same results as the file I downloaded. If I open the file, set the paper to the size I want, select the correct

Re: KIP 3000

I am under the impression that KIP is going to all Konica/Minolta dealers and asking if they want to pick up the line. I have come across this situation 3 times in the last month with the prospect telling me that they are getting a quote from Konica. I believe that all 3 instances are the same dealer but the relationship is being offered to all.

I don't think this is anything to be alarmed at. KIP wants dealers and they are going to solicit dealers with product lines that don't currently have wide format. I would imagine that they have always targeted Konica/Minolta dealers.

Re: Printing Multiple Collated Sets of Autocad Drawings

Wallin Team ·
The comparison would be using our HDI driver to create sets and sending to Plotbase versus letting Autocad do it right from the program (not using a viewer but actually batch printing right out of Autocad). Previous versions of Autocad would allow batch printing but not multiple sets of the batch - not so anymore.

You see doc... I have this "Friend"... And my "Friend" said that some people have been given a Tech ID without attending a Ricoh class. It may be possible for you to talk someone into giving you an ID if you can show you need access to the site (like if you are an SE or something) and don't have any need to be certified (because you won't be working on the hardware). And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Re: USB printing AF1515mf

You're right, XP should recognize the USB device without a problem. Does the computer have a 2.0 port? Even tho the printer is a 2.0 I would go into SP5844 and change the rate to full speed (12 Mbps). High speed (480 Mbps) can sometimes cause this. And the autochange will always go to 480 when available. As long as its just printing, you'll not notice the difference.Except it will work!

Jason...it is like playing Russian Roulette. I think it's one of those dirty little secrets all mfgs won't really admit, because in the end, you can print directly dwgs from AutoCAD. But in the real world, settings will get lost, changed, or mis-interpreted,especially on a complex dwg file with lots of stuff imbedded in it. Having an AutoCAD license on the server will fix thi$$$$, but I find that converting (plot to file) a dwg in AutoCAD to a plt is the way to go without added expense.
