This Week in the Copier/Office Equipment Industry 10 Years Ago The First Week of June 2006

Jason, this right be right up your alley!  Even though it's ten years old there's a thread about Reynolds & Reynolds.

I recently had to take my car in for service.  I was astonished that the dealer was using yellow card stock for the first order ticket and when the service was complete, there were an additional, four sheets of paper generated, yup that's a total of five pages for every repair!

I have recently installed a 2824 with a booklet finisher that has stapling on a customer's network. When I go into the printer preferences, it does not show that the MFP has stapling. I then installed SDM for client on the computer, (BUT NEVER CHANGED...

Re: Selling to a Car Dealership running Reynolds and Reynolds

Very interesting opportunity you have. Please keep us posted. I'm sure DOT can do the job, but unless they are needing it for variable data or a forms solution it may be overkill. If R&R is running an AS400 platform Ricoh has other less costly and some free solutions for printing other than DOT. Good Luck and again please keep us posted.

Re: " RightFax"

Yes,, this was the only way to integrate the 'RightFax'with the Ricoh AF2022. The "up-side" to this is that with this configuration, (the Ricoh/RightFax combo)'ALL' of the RightFax features can be accessed from the screen of the MFP. (I'm told by the factory product managers that, at this time, the Ricoh manufacturred products are the only ones with this "full access from the display panel capability.

Re: Color Cost Per Copy

using "true black". Is this correct? Then when copying, if "color" is selected on the control panel everything prints as color using "processed black". If this is true why do we have "autocolor select" And if all this is true, then much of Ricoh's literature and such is misleading. From 3224c brochure, "No more paying expensive per page prices for occasional color printing." BUT if we're correct, you pay less for color output than you would out sourcing, but you pay more for any BW pages included

Re: Color Cost Per Copy

This is interesting but from the Gestetner Sales Information Guide, page 21 "When printing mixed documents, only the black toner/PCU are used unitl a color page is encountered; then all four toners and developers are used for the remainder of the document, irrespective of whether they are in color or black & white". This would imply that all copies are "clicked" four times but the remainder of the paragraph says "However, subsequent black & white pages will be counted only as monochrome

Re: Color Cost Per Copy

Yes, it does. How does the printer know when to count four clicks as one. It has no way of knowing what the page looks like???? Is this somehow referring to the differences on page clicks verses development clecks. THIS REALLY PUTS INTO QUESTION HOW AFFORDABLE THE UNITS ARE TO OPERATE AND SEEMS TO GO AGAINST RICOH'S MATRA OF LOWER TCO.

Scanning Problem

·
Has anyone seen this before? I have a 240 located in an account which is currently involved in a scanning project to archive legacy documents. The volume for this project on a daily basis is very high and they run the scantools (scan to multipage file) 5-6 hours per day. Now, the problem is that they began to see blank streaks on the center left of the scanned pages which became worse and pretty much bewildered my guys until we had Ricoh come in and it was determined that the surface of the
