This Week in the Copier/Office Equipment Industry 10 Years Ago Second Week of February 2006

Just finishing this up before the end of half time show for the Superbowl, so far my prediction of Denver winning is holding up.  The big news of the weekend though is that Foxconn will have a deal done with Sharp Corporation by the end of the month.  Enjoy the threads from ten years ago this week!

Any comparison of Ricoh 240-480 vs Xerox 6204

Xerox has a new 6204 WF machine and I was wondering if anyone has any opinion or facts as to where it matches up with the Ricoh 240W and Ricoh 480W machines? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Here is the 6204 announcement: http://www.webwire.com/ViewPre...SIONID=&aId=8913 and Specs: http://www.xerox.com/go/xrx/equipment/product_details.j...ntry=USA&Xlang=en_US Bill C.

Re: Aficio 3045 user quotas

We do Ricoh and Canon. The Canon box can set user limits (B&W and/or Color). The Ricoh cannot without Access Control Product. I have a list of venders that provide the hardware/software. However, you can easily find one with a internet search. If you want names, I can provide if requested. We have not had to use them because we have access to Canon. Not sure about the Xerox.

order to replace the paper! Toner is drop and tap. Old style like the 7030D from Ricoh! Weight: A $%#$%^& monster, 536lbs, try getting that up a flight of stairs or two flights!!!!! Floor space requirements: D: 76 inches, W: 99 inches. So much for the small foot print design. From the book: If you are managing the disposal of your Xerox product, please note that the product contains lead and other materials whose disposal may be regulated due to environmental considerations. Re: What Ricoh needs to do with Color.......

no there are not any systems that will scan 11 x 17 and only only print to legal or letter. Years ago Minolta had a 350Z (analog) that was capapble of reducing 11x17, but would only copy letter and leagal. The major selling point was that they could reduce the 11 x 17's to letter or legal and they would not have to make the investment into a copier that also prints 11x17 if they did not need it. It worked, I sold many of these boxes convincing the customer about thier 11 x 17 requirements. I

Re: Plotbase will not print if 240W has a Stamp Board enabled

JasonR ·
I have seen this problem... like 18 months ago. The 240w is generating an error, the display on the 240w shows nothing out of place but the Plotbase software detects the error and won't print until the error is cleared. Unfortunatly, the solution in my situation was to disable the Stamp board in Service Settings. This option is turned on by default even if you do not have a stamp board. This doesn't seem like it would be a fix in your situation. I called Ricoh when I encountered this issue

Re: Feature Article for February "BuyerZone.com Friend or Foe"?

Just a follow up for Buyer Zone, a few more things that irked me. When you register you are told that you are one of six preferred vendors. I double check and yes, we were one of six. They sent me a list of the six vendors that would contact me. After a week, I received a call from Xerox and another dealer and they were not on the original lease. I can only assume that 6-9 dealers or manufacturers are contacting the end users. What a way to start a price WAR!!! In recent recent weeks, I have

Re: What does your Company do when equpiment comes in Damaged

We haven't had much problem with damage lately, but I will tell our warehouse to keep an eye out. Are you referring to visible damage to the box or damage discovered out of the box? We're told to accept but immediately document damage on the shipper's paperwork, and file claim with carrier. I believe the rationale is that once it leaves Ricoh's loading dock, the responsibility for the product lies with the carrier. Check and see if it's the same carrier for all your damaged shipments; and if it

Our dealership sells a lot of "Unity Desktop Professional," which is a Konica-branded bundled suite of Nuance's PaperPort and OmniPage. Document management plus excellent OCR. Konica has an excellent partnership with Nuance, and our Nuance rep has been extremely helpful and supportive.

right now the obvious things are: XES is brand new - ask for current customer references! ricoh still has smaller footprint. Push advantages of external controller over embedded controller. If you need more help with that one, search for more info in this P4P site. If anyone get copies of competitve quotes please post here!

What does your Company do when equpiment comes in Damaged

Boston Mike ·
We have been getting more equipment damages and we are told by Ricoh to accept and then fight the carrier. If the carrier says no we have to go to Ricoh and hope that Ricoh pays. We have been receiving unfixable machines and are thinking to reject them when they come in. Does your company accept it or do you decline it. Please Post your responses! Thanks, -=Boston Mike=-

Crap, I was always under the assumption that Ricoh never had "direct field sales". That the RBS's of the world bought like we bought or somewhat like it. How does a dealer compete with "direct field sales". Biy I sure hope I interpreted this letter wrong. Art Post

We saw th Ricoh unit in San Diego. Doc Feeded is flimsy and I think the speed is for SOHO only. However, it's a start in the right direction. We need a 25ppm and 30ppm color that can scan 11 x 17 and print upto legal size. Art Post

Re: FYI - KIP3000

I was just doing some research on the new Xerox, and I read that the image is scanned to a mailbox. Wham! It hit me, I visting the client who bought the KIP 3000 and not the 240W. He called ME for the TRIX software (I made a few bucks), his major complaint is that the KIP scans to a mailbox. He scans at the KIP, for multi pages and then he has to go to his desktop to retirve the images from the KIP mailbox. Here's his complaint, all of the images are labled as a temp file with random numbers
