Can anyone chime in on any of the brands that claim to have virus protection in their MFP's? I'm working with a trucking company and their comment back to me was that my competitor has virus protection on their MFP. I've been doing this a fairly long time and have never heard anyone make that claim. I actually laughed in my head, but the customer believes that this is an important aspect of the transaction apparently. Any help is appreciated.

Was the competitor Sharp by chance? Is it true that Sharp utilizes a Windows Operating System? If so, virus's may be a real threat.

I think rather than trying to fight the battle using logic, I would get a letter from your CEO stating that if their unit ever got inflicted with a virus, that you will replace it for free. That is better than any "protection software".

It is a Xerox sales agent. We go up against this one in particular fairly often and they will pull stuff out of there a$$ to get the customer thinking. Every time the sales rep is in on a deal against us the customer comes up with these off the wall questions.

I just told her if she ever got a Virus on the machine I would replace it for free for her.

I did a little digging on the particular machine. Xerox Work Centre 6655 and they do have some form on embedded Mcafee but it doesn't appear to be a virus protection, the way we probably think about it, even though that is listed as a part of it.
