Sharp Expands Direct Operations to San Diego

Mahwah, NJ, May 21, 2007 – Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA) today announced that it is continuing to expand its direct regional sales operation with the opening of a new Sharp Business Systems branch in San Diego. Sharp Business Systems of San Diego opened today as the fifth branch of the division.

SIICA purchased San Diego-based Aztec Imaging to launch Sharp Business Systems in the San Diego area, serving all of San Diego County. The Aztec Imaging management team has served the market for more than 35 years, gaining a reputation for superior service and commitment to its customers. All employees of Aztec Imaging have been asked to join the Sharp team and will provide seamless service to new and existing customers across San Diego.

Moving forward, Sharp Business Systems of San Diego will offer their customers Sharp’s line of advanced office products and solutions. The company will continue to provide the same high level of service and also continue to serve existing equipment and contract agreements.

Sharp Business Systems of San Diego will be managed by its current president, Dale Wedge, who brings vast knowledge and experience in the industry to Sharp. “We are excited to be a part of the Sharp team, a partnership that will allow us to offer more resources and better programs to our clients so that we can continue to provide preeminent service and deliver the best-in-class document products and solutions to customers,” said Wedge.

Aztec Imaging also brings a strong application background to Sharp. As a leading provider of services from OnBase® and Kofax® in the San Diego area, Aztec Imaging provides solutions for document and electronic content management. OnBase provides enterprise content management software that allows organizations to automate business processes and reduce the time and cost of performing important business functions, through the management and control of content from virtually any source. Kofax products enable organizations to automate business processes and streamline transactions by collecting paper documents, forms and e-documents from throughout organizations, transforming them into retrievable information, and exchanging it all with line-of-business applications, databases and archives. These products will continue to be offered under the new branch of Sharp Business Systems.

Sharp Business Systems Strategy
SDSCA plans to establish more than 20 local Sharp Business Systems branches during the next few years.

“Sharp Business Systems will help Sharp continue to grow and strengthen Sharp’s distribution in key markets nationwide, already proving successful in Arizona, San Francisco, South Florida and Indianapolis,” said Ed McLaughlin, President, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “Our direct branch strategy will augment our strong independent dealer channel by enabling Sharp to better understand customer needs and then translating that into outstanding products and support for our dealers.”
