We are approximatly eight to nine months out for the next generation of the 240W. I don't know much about any new features.

Color Scanning is critcal feature for the next gen system. Users would love to be able to scan color wide format (since 80% of our customers have color plotters in house)and then forward them via email or use an ASP for document collaboration.

It was recently mentioned that Ricoh will be partnering with Vidar or Graphtec (I'm not sure which one) for color scanner opportunities.

If you are in favor, we need to voice our opinions for color scanning, while we are on the subject, how bout breaking the market wide open with an LED Color Wide format printer/copier and scanner.

I agree.
How about a color multifunctional wide format system using the gelsprinter technology?
Come on Ricoh!! You have the technology. Just stop giving it away to other manufacturers.
Just a rant here but did they trade the 3131 with Toshiba for the MP 9000-1350 series?
If so, you got old technology and gave away our high volume edge.
Or how about IBM getting it too.
Give us the wide format we need.
We sold the 240W for you and made that product #1.
Let us do it again with the right product.
You need to listen to those of us in the field that hear what our customers want.
My 2 cents.
Whoa whoa whoa.

Adding color scanning to the 240 is an awesome idea. The technology exists, the customers want it, it would just be a case of plugging this into that, 3-6 month development. I'm all for it.

Making a LED or Gel color wide format is more like a 24-48 month development. I'm all for it, but don't expect to see it for 3-5 years (if even then).
