CHICAGO, Aug. 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- iManage, the company dedicated to transforming how professionals work, today announced that Hughes Hubbard & Reed (HHR) —one of New York’s most distinguished law firms — has selected iManage Threat Manager to better protect sensitive client data across its global offices.

iManage Threat Manager leverages historical and contextual information in the iManage system to provide rapid identification of both internal and external threats. Machine-learning algorithms ensure that iManage Threat Manager understands both the actions taken by users and the unique context in which professionals operate —avoiding pitfalls such as “false positives” that plague many other approaches to threat detection.

“Hughes Hubbard is continually looking for innovative ways in which we can bolster our relentless commitment to protect firm and client information and exceed our clients’ increasingly stringent information security requirements,” said Frank Spadafino, Chief Information Officer, HHR. “With that said, threat detection technology needs to minimize unnecessary operational overhead, and more importantly any adverse impact to attorney productivity, that results when these systems inaccurately identify potential threats (false positives). iManage Threat Manager’s sophisticated and unique approach in distinguishing between normal and abnormal behavior provides the type of context-specific monitoring that will minimize the ‘noise’ from false positives. It will enable our team to gain deeper insights into activity in our document management system and quickly focus our efforts where they will be most effective.”

iManage professional services is assisting HHR with its iManage Threat Manager implementation, which is proceeding in phases and scheduled to be complete by the end of September. Once fully live, iManage Threat Manager will protect the work product of approximately 800 HHR professionals, including staff and attorneys.

“95% of today’s attacks start with a phishing attack,” said Dan Carmel, Chief Marketing Officer, iManage. “With iManage Threat Manager, HHR is taking a proactive approach to securing their clients’ data that goes well beyond encryption or protecting the perimeter. iManage Threat Manager can understand different users’ behaviors at an individual level and then alert HHR as soon as behavior deviates from the norm. As the average attack goes undetected for months,

this ability to rapidly detect and neutralize internal and external threats is a powerful differentiator for firms in today’s risky world.”
