Friday April 25, 8:00 am ET

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2003--Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX - News) today introduced a system of hardware, software and services designed to help printers and print shop managers easily create, manage and fulfill orders of customized documents, such as brochures, business cards, signs and direct mail postcards.
Xerox's "easy-vi" Customized Fulfillment Solution, featuring iWay by Press-sense, was created in conjunction with Press-sense Ltd., a leading developer of Web-based solutions for the printing industry. The easy-vi - which stands for variable information - solution is the first collaboration between the two companies and is based on Press-sense's successful iWay Prime software platform. The two companies are working together to develop streamlined printing workflows for Xerox customers.

The easy-vi system is the newest addition to the Xerox portfolio of offerings enabling variable information applications.

"The complexity and the cost of variable information solutions has traditionally been the major obstacle that has discouraged print shops from offering this type of job," said Shlomo Ben-David, Press-sense CEO. "The comprehensive Xerox easy-vi approach is the type of long-awaited breakthrough that can bring variable information into the mainstream."

The solution integrates iWay Prime software with Xerox DocuTech and DocuColor digital printing systems. It provides printers with a single integrated system to create a Web storefront, receive orders, manage prints, track fulfillment and manage billing for variable information and static documents.

"Customized Web fulfillment is fast becoming an important application and presents a new opportunity for growth and profit," said Valerie Blauvelt, vice president of integrated marketing and solutions, Xerox Production Systems Group. "With easy-vi, Xerox is providing customers who have not yet started creating on-demand, customized documents the tools they need to quickly and painlessly get up and running."

Easy for Printers and their Customers

The easy-vi system makes variable information documents easier and more accessible by using standard formats, like Adobe PDF and Microsoft Office software. That means users can create and order customized documents, without the need to learn new tools. Data can also be provided to personalize documents through standard data file formats, for documents such as direct mail postcards. With easy-vi, marketing and sales operations can easily create highly personalized collaterals, such as addressed postcards, newsletters, brochures and sales promotion materials.

Xerox will work directly with its customers to install easy-vi and provide training and ongoing support. Xerox makes it simple for printers and print buyers to be more productive; the online graphic interface of easy-vi allows viewing, editing and submission of jobs without disruption to the printers' existing workflow.

The easy-vi system will support a wide range of Xerox production monochrome and color printers and is available May 15 in North America. Pricing varies by configuration. For detailed pricing information, call 800/ASK-XEROX.
