STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sep 01, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) --

Neonode Inc,  the leading optical touch and proximity technology company has signed a multi-year, multi-device license agreement with a leading Japanese printer OEM.

The signing of the license agreement comes as follow-on from the development agreement which was the first step in the process of technology validation by this printer OEM.

The printer segment is shaping to be a lucrative business for Neonode as the zForce® technology is not only being planned into the growing family of printers that have touch and display features, but also into printers where the OEMs want to replace buttons. The button replacement will allow OEMs to save cost, enhance the User Experience, and offer optimized Industrial Design.

"Neonode is expecting shipments of zForce enabled printers to experience 100% year over year growth in 2016. Neonode's touch and proximity technologies are the number one choice for the printer OEMs. Our investments in the printer segment over the last few years are paying off, and we see our position getting stronger," said Thomas Eriksson, CEO at Neonode.

Neonode's printer customers combined, sell almost 87 million of the estimated 106 million yearly printer sales. This is a testament to the strength of Neonode's technology on all levels including performance, user experience, price, scalability, high production yield, and industrial design.

Due to confidentiality, the name of the OEM cannot yet be disclosed.
