KYOCERA Document Solutions America has introduced PrivateScan, a business application designed for organizations with high security and confidentiality standards. PrivateScan runs on any HyPAS-enabled Kyocera MFP.

At many workplaces, it is possible to scan documents to a wide range of destinations: desktops, various departmental servers, internal and external email addresses, even memory cards and USB sticks. With Kyocera's PrivateScan, there is only one option: the user's unique authenticated email address.

"By simplifying the process, we've made it more secure, without impacting employees' ability to get things done," said Douglas Cole, director of product marketing, Corporate Marketing Division, KYOCERA Document Solutions America.

Indeed, one of the advantages of PrivateScan is the ease with which it integrates into existing document processes. Users simply select the application icon on the control panel, enter their credentials or swipe their proximity cards, then press "scan." The scanned image is routed directly and exclusively to their email inbox.

Cole explained that users actually represent a critical threat to the security chain but, in most cases, it is not because of malicious intent.

"Accidental transmission of sensitive information is more common than intentional theft," Cole said. "PrivateScan dramatically reduces the likelihood of human error."

Better security, without impacting productivity — exactly what Kyocera customers are looking for.

PrivateScan is available through authorized Kyocera dealers at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $216.
