KONICA'S 7820 AND 7830 COLOR IMAGING SYSTEMS RECEIVE
HIGH MARKS FROM BERTL
New Digital LED, Mid-Range Imaging Systems Recognized for Print Quality, Speed and Ease-of-Use

WINDSOR, Conn. - March 17, 2003 - Konica Business Technologies, Inc. (Konica), the innovation leader in digital imaging solutions and a subsidiary of Konica Corporation, today announced that two of its new mid-range color products - the Konica 7820 and 7830 Color Imaging Systems - have received high marks from BERTL™ (Digital Test Lab). The Konica 7830dxn was awarded BERTL's coveted "Highly Recommended" rating, and the Konica 7820dxn, 7820n and 7830n models were recognized with the BERTL "Recommended" rating. Further expanding Konica's family of color products, the 7820 and 7830 Color Imaging Systems deliver impressive print speeds of 20 and 30 pages per minute (ppm) in color, and 24 and 37ppm in B&W, respectively, and were honored for their host of features, print quality, job processing speed and easy-to-use design.

The in-depth test reports specifically praised each of the four Konica products for their above average processor speeds and subsequent fast processing of work; high 1200 dpi resolution and quality output; clamshell design, which provides full access to the paper path, reduces the possibility of paper jams and allows for easy changing of consumables; and general ease-of-use, including quick and intuitive installation - observed by the testers to be less than an hour from opening the box to the first printed page. BERTL also highlighted the single-pass color® LED digital technology found on all 7820 and 7830 models, noting that Konica was one of the first manufacturers to use this method of color application, which provides for faster print speeds, while reducing the chances of paper jams.

"Konica is carefully building a strong range of complementary color devices, each with its own unique strengths. As far as color strategy is concerned, Konica appears to have its finger on the pulse," said Carmel Rowley, CEO of BERTL.

In selecting the Konica 7830dxn as a "Highly Recommended" product, BERTL lauded many of the machine's standard features, stating that the 7830dxn's "standard spec includes most of the features that might normally be offered as optional upgrades." Standard features highlighted in the report include: a 600 MHz processor and "very fast" work processing, standard 320MB RAM and 10GB hard drive, crisp 1200 dpi resolution, large format printing capabilities, high-quality color output with the four in line development system of four photo-receptor drums positioned for single-pass color application, standard automatic duplexing, intuitive clamshell design with full access to paper path and consumables, and direct PDF printing capabilities that use less network bandwidth and improve image quality. The reviewers also made note of the 7830dxn's standard network connectivity functionality, its optional stacking stapler finisher, and available optional paper trays for a 2,850-sheet maximum paper capacity.

"Konica products have consistently been rated by BERTL as some of the top performers in the industry," said William H. Brewster, vice president, marketing, Konica Business Technologies, Inc. "The 'recommendation' of four of our new color models once again validates our legacy of delivering quality and performance, and further enhances our reputation in the color marketplace."

These are strictly printers... take a look at the Oki Printers in the same speed range you will see very interesting similarities. Not to mention the quality on these things is terrible. The 5000 will just kill it on quality. I have the option of selling the Konica or Ricoh printer and even the AP206 puts these things to shame. You should have no problem beating it if your up against it. The maintenance is expensive and print 1 almost never matches print 100.
Hope that helps
