InfoPrint Launches Developer Support Program
Industry-leading initiative marries color heritage with partner collaboration. Technology partners to collaborate with InfoPrint’s team of experts to allow effective planning and testing of output solutions prior to implementation.

Chicago, IL, September 9, 2007 – InfoPrint Solutions Company, a joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, today launches the InfoPrint Solutions Developer Program. The initiative, the most comprehensive in the commercial print sector to date, enables technology partners to collaborate with InfoPrint’s team of experts to allow effective planning and testing of output solutions prior to implementation. It is also aims to encourage innovation and excellence in technology development.

Technology partners already signed up to the program, which has been running in pilot mode for nine months, are Exstream Software LLC, GMC Software AG, Pitney Bowes Group 1, Printsoft, and XMPie.

Lower Project Risks and Costs
The InfoPrint Solutions Developer Program aims to lower overall project risk, application costs and increase overall success. Enabling testing of solutions prior to implementation means quality issues can be ironed out, particularly important where color output is involved. It also allows for improved performance, color rendition and control.

The InfoPrint team has direct experience in the extension of the Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) standard as the premier presentation platform for variable data color production printing. Technology partners receive hands-on advice on producing color from the ground up, especially important when working with transpromotional output. They can also interact with developers to evaluate existing print data streams, learn new architecture features, and obtain expert guidance on InfoPrint printers and workflow solutions.

Once technology partners have created applications, they can try them out via state-of-the-art virtual testing facilities. This virtual function will provide direct, remote access to selected Infoprint printers using unique simulation techniques. The planned initial printer models to be supported are InfoPrint’s high-end continuous form models -- the InfoPrint 5000 and InfoPrint 4100.

Current Partners
Current developers and solutions providers enrolled to the beta of the InfoPrint Solutions Developer Program are Exstream Software, GMC Software AG, Pitney Bowes Group 1, Printsoft, and XMPie. The program is launched at GraphExpo 2007 and will be open to companies working with InfoPrint machines and workflow solutions.

“We listened to our technology partners. We are launching a true co-development program to provide the support needed to allow testing and development and ensure true interoperability, as well as to support collaboration on exciting new applications and functions,” said George Promis, VP, Color Solutions and Technology Alliances. “We feel that a technology partner should be just that, a true business ally working side by side with our very own developers. As we continue to push innovation in color and transpromo in particular, our technology partners remain key to our success.”
