Tokyo (JCNN) - Fuji Xerox Ltd., established in 1962 as a joint venture between Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. and Rank Xerox Limited of the United Kingdom, has announced that it will spin off its office laser printer business, including R&D, manufacturing and marketing functions, to its newly established Fuji Xerox Printing Systems.

At the same time, the former Fuji Xerox Printing Systems Co., Ltd., a printer sales company established in October 2001, will change its name to FXPS Sales Co., Ltd., and fall under the newly established company along with Niigata Fuji Xerox Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a printer R&D and manufacturing company established in October 2001.

Fuji Xerox's corporate vice president and deputy general manager of Fuji Xerox's Printer Business Unit, Kiyoshi Horie, will assume the position of president of the new company. Fuji Xerox Printing Systems will be responsible for R&D and manufacturing of office laser printers, and will continuously supply laser printers to Fuji Xerox, Fuji Xerox's affiliates, OEM customers, and to NEC Corporation via FXPS Sales Co., Ltd., as well as exports to overseas markets. The company aims to capture double digit share in the global market by 2005.
