Fenestrae Launches Cloud-Based Document Scanning And Processing Service
Udocx makes anytime, anywhere access to all paper documents affordable
LONDON, Cloud World Forum, June 26, 2013 - Today, Fenestrae®, a global provider of solutions that help organizations improve agility and reduce costs by eliminating paper from key business processes, launches Udocx®: A cloud-based service that enables users to easily scan and convert paper documents into fully digitized, searchable files, and store them automatically at the right location in Microsoft SharePoint or Office 365.
"Even after decades of Office Automation, the bulk of day-to-day paper documents is still stored in traditional file cabinets, making document access and sharing very time consuming, and sometimes downright impossible,” says Wim de Koning, CEO of Fenestrae. “Most organizations are well aware of this issue, but traditional solutions are very complex and require huge upfront investment in hardware and software. Udocx takes away this complexity by offering scanning as a service that connects to your existing office equipment.”
With Udocx it is not required to install any software or hardware. It works with the document scanning devices that already are in place. With the press of a single button, documents are scanned, indexed and stored at the right location in the selected document store or business application.
“We were looking for an easy-to-use solution to scan our paper contracts and invoices directly into specific SharePoint libraries. The integration of Udocx with our existing Xerox copier/scanner was done in minutes and we never had to install a single piece of software. We now have secure access anywhere, anytime to all our paper documents,” says Olav Skogesal, Senior Advisor at Mepex Consultancy.
Udocx converts all scanned documents into PDF/A, the ISO-standard for long-term archiving of electronic documents. PDF/A documents are secure (they cannot contain malware) and can be read on any device, including tablets and smart phones. To enable fast retrieval, each document has a full text index and meta-data attached. The service integrates with a range of business and storage applications, both in the cloud and on-premise [1].
