Six New imageRUNNER 2000 Series Models Support Color Scanning and Smart Multifunction Capabilities for Smaller Offices and Workgroups

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., October 1, 2007 – Delivering sophisticated document production features to workgroup office environments, Canon U.S.A., Inc., the overall brand leader in the U.S. copier marketi, today unveiled six models in the new imageRUNNER 2000 Series.

Producing crisp up to 1,200 X 1,200 dots-per-inch (dpi) output at speeds of up to 30, 25, 22 and 18 letter-sized pages-per-minute (ppm), respectively, the compact yet powerful new imageRUNNER 2030i/2025i/2022/2022i/2018/2018i models deliver the benefits of digital copy, network print, color scanning, and optional fax features, along with flexible paper handling and finishing options that help save time, space, and most of all, document production costs.

"These new imageRUNNER models were designed with the workgroup in mind," said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Systems Division, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "The intelligent communications and advanced printing functionality of these new imageRUNNER 2000 Series models, coupled with its compact design and uncompromising performance, will help improve digital workflow and enhance productivity for smaller offices and workgroups."

System Highlights

The series is designed in two versions: the "i" model for out-of-the-box advanced network communications, and the "plain" model, a more modular device that can be built for specific requirements. The imageRUNNER 2000 Series devices are powered by Canon's imageCHIP (Concurrent Hyper Intelligent Platform) Lite system architecture, which drives all-in-one multifunction capabilities, including simultaneous copying, printing, scanning, sending and faxing. Sporting Canon's RAPID Fusing Technology, these devices provide users with fast print speeds and warm-up times, helping to address a workgroup's needs for greater output in less time.

The imageRUNNER 2030i/2025i/2022/2022i/2018/2018i can be connected directly to a user's workstation using the standard USB 2.0 High Speed port, or leveraged as a shared network resource through a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface. The new imageRUNNER models support advanced digital copying and printing capabilities using Canon's Ultra Fast Rendering II LT (UFRII LT) technology or PCL 5e/6 page description languages (standard on the "i" models and optional on the "plain" models), as well as built-in Color Scanning functionality to enable users to convert hard-copy based information into electronic format.

The "i" models of these new offerings also come standard with Color Send technology. With this functionality, the new imageRUNNER models are capable of quickly scanning and sending color documents in TIFF, JPEG and PDF formats to e-mail addresses, file folders (SMB/FTP) on a network, or I-Fax destinations. With Canon's PDF High Compression mode on the new devices, color images can be handled efficiently over the network while maintaining image quality.

The imageRUNNER 2030i/2025i/2022/2022i models come standard with two 250-sheet paper drawers (the imageRUNNER 2018/2018i come standard with one paper drawer) and an 80-sheet stack bypass tray, each handling paper sizes of up to 11-inches x 17-inches. For greater capacity, additional cassette options can be added for a five-way feeding system of up to 1,080 sheets. A 50-sheet Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) comes standard on the "i" models and is available as an option on the "plain" models.

A 250-sheet internal output tray is standard on the new imageRUNNER, and provides collating, grouping and rotating capabilities. Additional output capacity can be obtained with the Inner Two-Way Tray option, which adds a second 100-sheet output destination to the internal tray. An internal finisher option is also available, which can staple up to 50 sheets per set, and collate, group and offset up to 770 sheets of paper. For additional sorting capabilities, a second internal tray can be added to the internal finisher.

Also, powerful Super G3 fax capabilities are available as an option on all of the new imageRUNNER models.

The imageRUNNER 2030i/2025i will be available immediately with manufacturer suggested retail prices of $7,800 and $6,400, respectively, while the imageRUNNER 2022/2022i/2018/2018i and its pricing will be available later this year*. All of the new imageRUNNER 2000 Series models will be available through Canon Authorized Dealers and Canon Business Solutions.
