Lake Success, N.Y., April 1, 2008 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in document imaging and office solutions, today announced the addition of the Color imageRUNNER C3480 Series and the Color imageRUNNER C3080 Series. Joining the Color imageRUNNER C2550 announced in February 2008, the Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series models bring time-savings, performance and high-quality output to smaller offices and workgroup environments.

With print speeds of up to 34/30 pages-per-minute (ppm) in monochrome and up to 30/28 in color, respectively, for letter-sized output, the new Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series is set to be competitive within the print and imaging industry’s Segment 2 and Segment 3 markets. Built on a frame close to 22 inches wide, the new MFPs easily fit narrow spaces and bring the same levels of productivity and innovation without the larger footprint of a higher volume system.

Offering Web connectivity, accelerated paper management, robust finishing options, advanced security features, and low energy consumption, as well as compatibility with a wide selection of accessories, the Color imageRUNNER C3480 and C3080 systems are available in either a “base” or “i” version, and can be customized to meet diverse document management needs.

“Most other MFPs on the market in this speed segment come with either a larger footprint or a higher price tag. The new Canon Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series models are unique for the office environment,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Systems Division, Canon U.S.A. “Employing the same expanded feature set and high-resolution image quality of Canon’s high volume MFPs, the Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series brings affordable color printing to office markets.”

Canon’s Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series models feature a wide set of document management tools and high-capacity finishing options that enable users to create professional documents in the office – reducing the time and costs associated with outsourcing projects. The systems’ fast speeds are achieved with Canon’s Quick Fixing (QF) color toner, which is designed to quickly melt and fuse to paper at low temperatures. QF color toner also provides high image quality with minimal power requirements.

To achieve greater productivity, the Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series offer time-saving tools, enabling multiple users to access and create print jobs simultaneously. Canon’s 4-in-1 Laser Scanning accelerates the pace of scanning, while optimized print performance produces output at up to 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution.

Leveraging the power of established networks and the latest in Web technology, the new Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series is ideal for users distributed throughout multiple locations or those creating print jobs directly from the Web. With Canon’s new Wireless Network Interface Adapter the MFPs can more easily connect to an office environment’s Local Area Network (LAN) supporting 802.11g and 802.11b standards for up to 54 Mbps and 11 Mbps transmission speeds, respectively. With Canon's Web Access Software users can access the Web or corporate intranets to download and print Web pages or PDF files from the device. And with the MFPs’ support of Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Web Services on Devices protocol, users can also more easily manage devices from remote locations.

These new models come standard with Canon’s proprietary Color Universal Send technology, which allows the user to distribute documents scanned on the imageRUNNER MFP to multiple network destinations, including E-mail and Internet fax addresses, local Mail Boxes, fax, network folders and document management systems, in one simple operation. On the “i” version of these models, Color Universal Send offers powerful options, such as PDF High Compression, Trace & Smooth PDF and Searchable PDF modes, for mastering document creation, distribution and archiving.

As the need for device and document security becomes more prevalent in organizations worldwide, the new Color imageRUNNER models are equipped with a number of features designed to help ensure the security of the device and protect confidential information. With Canon’s Access Management System (AMS), restrictions and access to specific functions or features within functions can be assigned to particular users or workgroups. Optional Hard-Disk Drive (HDD) Encryption and HDD Data Erase help further prevent confidential data from being compromised.

The Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series meets the ENERGY STAR® guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Canon is a long-time ENERGY STAR partner, and is a strong advocate of consumer education of energy-efficient products through its product labeling and environmental programs.

The Canon Color imageRUNNER C3480/C3080 Series models are immediately available through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions at a manufacturer's suggested retail prices of $11,000 for the Color imageRUNNER C3480; $13,000 for the Color imageRUNNER C3480i; $9,000 for the Color imageRUNNER C3080; and $11,000 for Color imageRUNNER C3080i.
