MELVILLE, N.Y., August 25, 2016 – Technology remains an important component to a law firm's ability to offer client-focused legal services, and can also help bring benefits in the form of increased productivity, reduced costs, in-depth analytics and document security features. From August 28 to September 1, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, will demonstrate its comprehensive suite of document solutions that can help legal practices at ILTACON 2016 (booths #700, 702, 704 and 706) at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland. Legal professionals will have the opportunity to discover how Canon, a predominant brand of photocopier among legal firms1, can help them rethink processes and solutions and master their business.

At the show, Canon will display its latest imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction systems ready to support the demanding needs of a busy firm. Universal Login Manager comes standard on all the latest imageRUNNER ADVANCE models2, helping firms to better manage print and document costs by controlling employees' access and usage. These new models also include support for mobile print workflows, and firms using the Worldox™ document management system can leverage the optional Scan to Worldox MEAP application to automate document scanning. Canon will also be showcasing a new imageFORMULA production document scanner add-on accessory called Scan Kiosk Networked Scan Station Expansion Pack3. This expansion pack can convert compatible existing production document scanners4 into high-speed, network-attached dedicated scanning devices for uniFLOW environments5.

Business Intelligence
A view of a firm's utilization and performance metrics can help with operational efficiency. Solutions with integrated metrics capture and reporting capabilities can help firms with their business intelligence strategy, and can provide quantitative insight into the value of workflows and asset usage essential to firm productivity. These analytics may be particularly helpful for firms needing to forecast project costs for cases with alternative fee arrangements.

Canon's broad portfolio of solutions helpful for the legal sector, including the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 multifunction systems, with advanced authentication, metrics capture and reporting capabilities, can help calculate costs, increasing the potential to drive profitability with operational efficiency. uniFLOW can help firms by capturing costs associated with billable activities such as print and copy and assign charges to the appropriate customer or project. The same data collected for cost recovery can also contribute to more extensive trend analysis and forecasting to help firms build their cost management and profit improvement strategy.

Process Management
Managing the complexities of integrated print, copy and scan is often a manual, time-consuming process, but Canon's uniFLOW solution offers integration with many commonly used document management systems to help automate this process. For broad workflow capabilities, uniFLOW extends its print, copy tracking and user authentication features to support integration, document capture and workflow processing capabilities with various third-party document management solutions such as iManage Work™, OpenText™, SharePoint™ and Box™.6Legal professionals using the Worldox™ document management system can leverage the optional Scan to Worldox MEAP application to automate scanning documents with FollowMe favorites personalization features from imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices, as well as select imageFORMULA document scanners7 that can send documents to Worldox wirelessly on the same network with the touch of a button.

In addition to Worldox scanning capabilities, imageFORMULA document scanners offer industry standard ISIS/TWAIN drivers to integrate smoothly with various third-party applications, including Evernote® and Google Docs™6. These models can also handle legal-sized documents with ease, providing Bates stamping and other functions helpful to legal firms when sharing information in electronic format.

Mobile Productivity
With an increasing number of employees participating in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend, legal professionals require solutions to help control access to sensitive data. For firms seeking security features and control over printing from mobile devices, Canon offers the uniFLOW Mobile Printing application. This powerful uniFLOW application integrates mobile device printing into a firm's overall output management solution, enabling them to enact control over which users can submit document output from compatible mobile devices, while also requiring user authentication to print. The latest imageRUNNER ADVANCE models2 can provide firms with additional flexibility to allow them to help maximize productivity. Upon authentication at the MFP, users can access My ADVANCE features to create a personalized experience tailored to each legal professional's preference, offering them a customized interface displaying many frequently used functions, allowing them to move virtually seamlessly from device to device.

Firms often need to quickly upload documents to various court systems across the country. For the legal professional on-the-go, Canon offers the sleek imageFORMULA Scan-tini Mobile Document Scanner, a powerful, lightweight device that conveniently fits on a desktop or in a briefcase. This imageFORMULA model can also wirelessly8 scan documents to compatible mobile devices using the Canon CaptureOnTouch mobile app9.

Information Governance
Firms are entrusted with clients' highly sensitive information, making access to confidential information a top priority. In order to help limit access to customer's sensitive information, the latest imageRUNNER ADVANCE models** feature a set of standard and optional security features10. As part of the third generation of imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems, these MFPs include a standard Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Encryption function with FIPS140-2 validation which, when activated, automatically encrypts data stored on the main unit's HDD, thereby helping to restrict access to the customer's data.

Additionally, user access can also be controlled when using the Scan Kiosk combined with uniFLOW5 for select imageFORMULA production document scanners4. The uniFLOW interface displayed on a user-friendly touchscreen display will allow legal professionals to identify themselves through various login methods including optional card scanning. Upon authentication at the MFP, specific workflow settings can be linked to a user for personalized scan settings.

Canon Business Process Services (CBPS) will also spotlight how its technology, services and consulting expertise can help legal professionals. This includes helping to meet the challenges associated with legal document review via CBPS' CaseData™ cloud-based discovery platform. CaseData offers document review and processing capabilities, analytics, reporting and production features. CBPS can also assist firms in implementing a digital intake center that enables law firms and corporate legal departments to leverage document imaging, indexing and other services to help reduce a backlog of active, paper-based files; helping to improve access to information and minimize paper usage.
