Does your dealership sell Samsung?

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today  announced it received recognition for its Near Field Communication (NFC)  technology and its mono, color laser and multi-function (MFP) printer devices  from Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI) in the U.S. BLI recognized Samsung with a  Summer 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award in Innovation for its groundbreaking use of NFC to simplify mobile print, scan and fax capability. In addition, the  Xpress M2825DW and M2875 Series and ProXpress M4020ND devices were selected for  BLI's Summer 2013 ‘Pick' awards in the monochrome printer and MFP categories  while the CLX-6260FW, CLX-6260FD, and CLP-680 Series printers won in the energy  efficiency category. BLI conducts a rigorous evaluation that looks at factors  such as reliability, image quality, productivity and ease of use, and selects winners based on those at the top of their class.

“We are very pleased that our Xpress, ProXpress and NFC Printers and MFPs  were recognized for their achievements in reliability, performance, and  innovation,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president of Samsung's Enterprise Business Division. “Small to medium-sized businesses and home-based  professionals are increasingly seeking lower operating costs for maximum  profitability without sacrificing high performance. These awards reaffirm our  commitment to introducing innovative products that provide a high level of  efficiency, cost savings, and reduced impact on the environment to our dealers  and customers.”

Samsung NFC technology honored for outstanding achievement

Samsung's NFC technology offers a new and improved way of printing from and  scanning to mobile devices and delivers simplicity to mobile workers. Users can  effortlessly print files from an NFC-enabled smartphone just by tapping it on  the printer. The technology is currently available on Samsung's NFC-enabled  Xpress C4X0 series, which include the C410W color laser printer and the C460FW  color laser multi-function printer, both designed for home and small office use. NFC-enabled color laser printers and multifunction devices for business will be  available by the first quarter of 2014.

“Samsung has found a useful business application for NFC that makes mobile  workers more productive by mitigating the difficulty of device discovery and  reducing the time it takes to print and scan from a mobile device,” said BLI  Associate Editor Dan DiGiacomo. “The ability to send a print job, scan a  document or send a fax with a simple tap of a smart phone on an MFP is  incredibly convenient. Additionally, it eliminates the need for IT staff to set  up guest access to MFPs and printers that may not reside on an accessible WiFi  network.”

Samsung collects three awards for product performance

Three of Samsung's monochrome devices took home awards in the BLI Personal  Printer, Personal MFP and A4 Small Workgroup Printer categories, confirming the  devices' reliable, affordable and eco-friendly attributes. These new Mono Laser  and Multi-function printers feature fast print speeds, high quality output and  cost savings for small and medium-sized businesses, and home office users.

“The ProXpress M4020ND is a great choice for small workgroup environments,  offering a combination of speed, very good output quality and a low cost of  ownership,” said BLI Senior Analyst for A4 MFPs and Printers Marlene Orr. “For  individuals in need of a compact and affordable device, the compact Xpress  M2825DW and Xpress M2875 Series help users save money and the environment,  thanks to such ‘green' features as standard duplexing and Samsung's Easy Eco  Driver.”

Samsung Color Laser and MFPs awarded for energy efficiency

Samsung's CLX-6260FW and CLX-6260FD models were commended for their significant energy savings when compared to competitive products. In BLI's  tests it was found that the two 25-ppm MFPs used up to 52 percent less power  annually than comparable A4 color MFPs. The CLX-6260FW also has fast recovery  times from sleep mode, allowing users to make the most of the printer's  energy-efficient sleep settings without sacrificing productivity or convenience.

“BLI's ‘Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency' award honors devices  that exceed expectations and raise the bar in regards to energy consumption and  general environmental performance,” said BLI Test Technician Joe Tischner. “The  CLX-6260FW earned this award for its substantially lower energy consumption when  compared against its peers, as well as its advanced environmental feature set,  which provides a more complete environmental solution for eco-conscious  consumers.”

BLI's environmental testing measures the energy consumed by document imaging  products in all operating modes including energy-save, idle and sleep modes, as  configured for a real-world office environment using a wired interface. In  addition to reporting on a range of environment-related features, such as  measuring a printer's ability to use various grades of recycled paper and its  toner yield, the reports include projected annual energy consumption and cost  based on real-world usage scenarios in each product category.

The CLX-6260FW comes with several environmentally-friendly features, including automatic duplex, blank-page removal, toner-save mode, auto color  mode and job review mode for print output. It also dynamically prints text using  black toner and color elements using color toner on the same page, thus reducing  color toner use. In addition, users have full access to the control panel while  the device warms up from sleep mode, including the ability to fax or scan, which  allows users to begin scanning without having to wait for the device to  completely wake up.

BLI also awarded an Outstanding Achievement award to the Samsung CLP-680 Series for its superb environmental performance. Its projected annual energy  consumption rate is about 55 percent lower than average while running BLI's  real-world environmental wired job stream, placing it among the best energy  performers in its class.

“Only the best of the best earn BLI's ‘Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency' award, and that covers the best energy and best overall performances. And thanks to an energy rate of up to 55 percent lower than  average, a rich environmental feature set and faster than average recovery  times, the Samsung CLP-680 Series fit all of our award criteria, said Lisa  Reider, BLI's Senior Product Editor for Environmental Testing. “We are honored  to grant this award to such an outstanding product.”

The CLP-680's environmental features include blank-page removal, job review  mode and automatic duplexing, which help conserve paper consumption. As with the  CLX-6260FW, the CLP-680 Series reduces color toner usage by printing document  text with black toner and any color elements on the same page with color toner.  BLI also found black, cyan and yellow toner yields were higher than the average  when tested against competitors.
