Unfortunately you have to adapt, but the A4 is the worst thing this industry could have done. They continually do anything and everything to drive everything to $0.00

Meant to also say I do agree with the portion of "what I will do differently." I wish my sales reps would read stuff like this and actually try it in the field instead always selling on price.

HP forced the rest of the industry's hand when the HP 4345 was such a big hit in large firms. As long as most reps are still proposing A3 instead of A4, there can be pretty substantial hardware margins in A4 systems. Additionally, selling A4 systems which typically have higher CPC rates is actually better for dealers who are focused on growing their recurring revenue streams. That being said, if the manufacturers start cranking out the machines Art desperately wants (A4 systems with the same...

I will agree that the A4 systems we sell have great margins, some as high as 60-70%. I am curious at what point some manufacturer is going to come up with a letter size only machine...? Art what's the going rate for your services

We recently picked up the OKI line and have been VERY satisfied with regional mgrs. response to inquiries and problems. The machines are quite robust and produce fantastic color! The manufacturer pays a significant amount towards shipping, a BIG plus for us in Alaska, and a generous spiff to the reps. I don't expect them to last 8-10 years, like the Ricoh A3, but they are selling like hotcakes. Love them!

We used to get some via the website as well, but the ineptitude of Ricoh can be astounding! Brand new series '03 machines are not available now. WHAAA??? MPC2003 - 3003. They have also begun to contract packing with UPS so everything is coming is HUGE boxes with hardly anything in them, and we're getting charged for it!!

The fact that the website lead generator doesn't work is crazy, Wow! But my gut feeling is if any do leads come in to the Mfr, regardless of the source, the lead gets sent to a direct op. Independent Dlrs are left to find their own leads.

Who Would be a Viable Buyer for Toshiba Tec?

Seems that every new day brings a new set of issues for Toshiba Corporation, which is not to be confused with Toshiba Tec . You might ask what does Toshiba Tec offer besides copiers? Makes me wonder what may happen. From my talks with muratec, of course I'm not in a high position of being in the know, it sounds like the label presses will become their go to product and eventually the mfp's will be less important to them. It would be interesting to me if Samsung sold to HP for a billion (I'm not sure why HP thought they were getting a steal by paying a billion for the copier division) and then Samsung turns around and says "thanks for the billion dollars, now we are going...

I figure the way Samsung treats everyone else in the tech world they would be laughing all the way to the bank with their billion, and then laugh all the way to the bank buying a company with a more whole product portfolio.....look at what they do with apple. Steal a patent and just pay off the lawsuit judgements and move on.

Five Reasons Why Every Manufacturer Needs A Color Label Print Device

Color labels....., now you seem and now you don't. Over the years I'll admit that I never paid much attention to color labels, yet they are everywhere you look. Regulations and safety compliance in the work place has helped the color label market to explode in recent years. Most small to mid size manufacturing companies are outsourcing their color labels, which means a very long wait time when placing orders and most are ordering way more than they need to bring the cost per label price...
