Re: Best Black & White MFP for 10k/month yeild. Suggestions?

FYI: Toshiba, overall, is in the top ten for R&D Spend-to-Sales ratios. "Bottom dweller" really is not a fair use of words. With any device manufacturer, product is only as good as its dealer support. Get references if need be. RE: maintenance; The asker is talking B&W devices not color. Regardless, get the maintenance. Fewer spikes in copy quality or hardware issues because you'll make that phone call to fix rather than putting up with poor copy quality, etc. for fear of how much it...

TimB: Thanx for the comment! I believe you with the top ten in R & D for Spend to Sales ratios, but I don't R & D being conducted for copiers not like Canon, Xerox, KonicaMInolta & Xerox. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. Toshiba's market share over the last ten years in the US has always been at or near the bottom of the pack, thus they are cellar dwellers, bottom feeders, in the US market. You are correct with the MA, they were not asking for...

Art, I like your general guidance to the initial poster, and I won't grade your writing since this isn't an English class. In regard to this brief post conversation, I think honesty is the best policy with customers and with ourselves. Yes Tim, they probably are in the top ten. However, the customer was asking which is the best. By rankings in the market place, the top seven do not include Toshiba. They fall within the bottom 7% of market share for shipments and the bottom 8.6% for market...

First is this your actual reply to the account looking at thoseToshiba products listed (455 & 305)? If yes and they have a great history with the Toshiba product, telling them there a "bottom dweller" would make anyone think that you're only wanting to sell them what YOU'RE offering. The models they requested are older models of Toshiba and who knows if they've worked well for them or not. Also if you research the Okidata product, most of their MFP's are based on the Toshiba platform now...

Actually, I did not mention that I am offering any equipment to them. I'm not even sure where they are located, I'm not looking to sell them, All of the recent MFP's that I've seen at the shows have pretty much the same GUI> I do remember something about a more robust partnering with Toshiba/

Re: When Does Your IT Provider Start to Care About Your Cost Per Page?

TimB ·
First of all, from my experience, doctors seem to be notoriously cheap when it comes to office equipment. The thought of giving their staff decent office equipment is not on their radar. They'd rather invest in the latest medical equipment or gadget, Mercedes/BMW, or hobby. That being said, re: HP printers, depending on the model, some of those older printers (like any in the 4000's) print pretty darn cheaply. Divide, say, $125 or $150 by 20,000 and that's pretty darn cheap. They have a hard...

Well Art you would think they would since it would mean more professional services for them. I think some companies are so entrenched in their core competencies that they tend to ignore anything outside that realm. Just my two cents for what it's worth.

Sharp is much more desperate than Canon. Whatever the deal, I'm sure it was beyond anything a financially secure company like Canon would consider.

Ricoh Laser Printers & MICR HACK

Acting on a tip from Fisher (p4p member), I placed a SP3500N laser printer, bought a MICR cartridge from Rosetta Technologies and made our own check printer. All wnet well until the Rosetta cartridge did not fit in the SP3500N. In the past, I've had a lot of experience with rebuilding HP, Lexmark & Xerox cartridges. I examined both the OEM and Rosetta, they looked almost identical except for a small nub on the Rosetta cartridge. On the Ricoh cartridge there was no nub. This nub prevented...

I’m in Atlanta today, and I just finished attending the live production of a world-wide webinar presentation HP’s PageWide wide-format team gave today. HP’s webinar-presentation team was led by Ramon Pastor, Vice President & General Manager of Large Format and 3D Printing. I have to admit that is was very exciting to have been invited by HP to attend the HP PageWide launch event that took place in early June in San Diego, and I feel compelled to say that it was doubly-exciting to have...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

timw ·
When connecting an MFP to say DropBox, the MFP still doesn't allow for an end-user to view that DropBox's folder tree (without added software), correct? So essentially the customer scans to DropBox, heads back to their computer, and then searches around the DropBox folder until they find their scanned file - which isn't much different than the issue the end-user described in the first place? Am I correct in this? I've been looking around for a solution that can help with this that won't...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

Hello TimW, Thank you for that question. I think it is very relevant, especially as we do have the browse feature for SharePoint. For cloud services such as Dropbox, Micorosoft OneDrive and Google Drive, Udocx enables users to scan directly to any pre-define folder. This means users can scan to several specific destinations within Dropbox. For example, if you want to scan to the 'orders' folder within Dropbox regularly, you can make a 'scan to orders' App. This App will be available to you...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

timw ·
Hi Iris, Thank you for the response! This helps, but the folders still need to be pre-defined, which would be the same thing as setting up a shared folder, no? And the MFP can do that natively. So out of the box, the installing technician could conceivably set up "Scan to Dropbox -Orders," "Scan to Drop-Box - Leads," "Scan to Drop-Box - Accounts Receivable" since no software is needed for this. Or am I incorrect? It sounds like the major plus to Udocx would be the ability to view the folder...
